Cheeky
Mr Cheek, internet penetration amongst the murut community in Pensiangan area is all time low. The telephone fixed line doesn't even covers half of the population area there. Young people from another half, that luckily covered, had gone to big towns to earn a decent living. And most of the time, they speak in bahasa as communication medium. So the core of murut language, the masters, are situated deep in the interior.
How exactly they are going to promote language via internet when there is no internet connection?
Another thing, cheek-y. If it is only about promoting something over the internet, we don't need proposal from a federal minister. Opposition parties and bloggers in Malaysia, that un-fondly known as "monkey" by a certain minister in the past, had discover this favorable media since the last decade.
Promote Murut language via Net: Shabery
NABAWAN (Daily Express): The Information Ministry has proposed that the Murut language currently broadcast over the Radio Keningau FM station be broadcast globally in the future.
Its Minister, Datuk Ahmad Shabery Cheek, said this could be done over the Internet.
"There is much uniqueness of the Murut community including in Pensiangan that can be shown to the outside world. I believe that with the broadcasting of the Murut language over the Internet, the culture of the Muruts can be widely displayed," he said at the launch of the state-level 'Layar Bestari', a mobile cinema service, here, Saturday night.
He said his Ministry will look into the woes of the Pensiangan folks in relation to the poor reception of RTM's broadcasts.
