The people of Kg Marak Parak want Bandau MP Datuk Dr Maximus Ongkili and Tandek Assemblywoman Anita Baranting to live up to their March 8 election promises as the Kg Marak Parak Road, especially, poses a danger to people from 12 villages who rely on the road.
These are Kg Telas, Kg Sunsui, Kg Talamason, Kg Pompodon, Kg Tangkol, Kg Pongopuyan Baru, Kg Paka, Kg Sorinsim, Kg Tandahawon, Kg Malangkap Tengah, Kg Malangkap Darat, Kg Kias, Kg Tungab and Kg Polipikan.
"We can't get out to Pekan Kota Marudu to do the needful. School-children are also often late for school. In emergency cases, the patients have to endure hours of travelling on bad roads before they reach Kota Marudu Hospital.
"The road project was approved in 2005 but probably because the YB (Max) is mostly in KL, he could not oversee its implementation," they claimed.
They also said that in December 2006 and December 2007, five bridges were swept away because of their weak foundation.
The bridge near Kg Sunsui, Kg Talamason, Kg Tangkol and Kg Malangkap are also in a sorry state.
They also want Maximus to explain why kampung roads in the peninsula are sealed but Jalan Marak Parak, although considered a main road in Kota Marudu, has not been upgraded until today.

Just got news at 8.00pm in TV3 that 3 students died in a road accident at Marak Parak...
