This is about Tan Sri Kurup and the 'cleanest' SPR (Election Commision) officials ever recorded in the last election. The PKR candidate was nullified because he turned up late by few minutes.
Kurup leaves his fate to court
Keningau (dailyexpress): Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS) President Tan Sri Joseph Kurup said the party is prepared to accept the decision of the High Court relating to an election petition filed recently by Parti Keadilan Rakyat seeking to nullify the results of the recent Pensiangan Parliamentary polls.
Kurup won the seat uncontested but controversially following the disqualification of his PKR rival candidate, during nominations on Feb. 24.
He claimed this reflected the attitude of the PKR candidate who was dissatisfied with the Election Commission's decision.
He regretted that the PKR supporters even sought to violence in assaulting him following the decision of the Returning Officer at the nomination centre.
Kurup, who is Deputy Rural and Regional Minister, hoped the people would not be unduly influenced by the Opposition claim of taking over the Government "in due course".
The situation in the peninsula, where the Opposition took control of five states, would never happen in Sabah, and the Government is earnest in enhancing developments and progress in the State, particularly in the rural area, he said.
