Balik kampung ... Filipino in Sandakan packs away

(thestar) Federation of Chinese Associations Sabah (FCAS) chairman Datuk Sari Nuar said the postponement was needed to enable employers to register their illegal foreign workers with the Immigration Department.

"After the grace period, we will support whatever the Government decides to do with foreigners who are still in the state,” he said after chairing a FCAS meeting here yesterday.

On Saturday, Sabah Immigration Department officer-in-charge of labour affairs Supiani Sipin said a three-month registration exercise of illegal foreign workers had begun on Aug 1 in conjunction with the crackdown operations.

She said the department had set up 20 teams to conduct the registration exercise for Filipino and Indonesian workers.
