‘Lame duck’ does not apply here, says Shahrir

JOHOR BARU (star): The Western concept of a lame duck premier does not apply in the context of local politics, as the two top leaders are not in competition with each other.

Umno supreme council member Datuk Shahrir Samad said Malaysian politics was different, unlike the zero sum game of politics in the West.

As such, he said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi was no lame duck prime minister.

"If you are in a competitive environment or acting as an interim president, then maybe you can expect it to apply,” he said.

No western lame duck here.

If you wanna slaughter a lame duck you need to have halal certificate, otherwise you can't sell it to muslims. Or you can sell it, but they won't buy.

Ironically, Shahrir still uses the 'lame duck' phrase. Therefore, instead of western lame duck, then we have local lame duck. The only clue given by Shahrir was that local lame duck is different from western lame duck. How? Is this local lame duck lamer than it's counterpart in the west, or on better legs?

Right, his the "no lame duck prime minister" isn't a lame duck afterall. He is a legs-broken, wings-broken duck, he squacks bad, and doesn't event fit to becomes Hari Raya's rendang.
